Man this is hard: I'll a try a Top 5 but there's much more.
1. The Evild Dead (series)
2. Dawn of the Dead (Original, remake was also good)
3. The Exorcist
4. Alien (series) (that counts right?)
5. The Shining
Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw are worthy contenders but with so many sequels and remakes they've been kinda ruined for me.

Re: The Best Horror Movies
Hmmm, so damn hard to choose, but I'd say my top 5 would be
1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I prefer the remake, sheerly because of the fact theres more violence haha)
2. The Devils Rejects/House of 1000 Corpses (Theres nothing quite like cutting a guys face off and using it as a mask haha)
3. Halloween (Whole series, including the most recent Rob Zombie addition)
4. Dawn of the Dead (Original or Remake, both decent but I think the Original has the edge)
5. Hannibal series
As other films go, I sound like a fag whenever I say this haha, but the Childs Play series fucks with my head, I remember seeing part of one of them when I was about 7

Re: The Best Horror Movies
Man, you guys helped me remember a few classics that I forgot about in my Top 5. 'The Birds' is a siiiicccckkkk psychological thriller by the master, Alfred Hitchcock. His films were prior to all of the special effects that make movies 'scary' these days, so Alfred relied on his ability to tell a suspenseful story and really bring it to life. I mean, come on, how could we be scared of a flock of birds? Well, I'm sure that Hitchcock could make nuns Christmas shopping terrifying!
The "Hannibal Series" is very good and I also love 'The Shining'... (I don't want to hurt you... I just want to bash-in your brains) classic! Great list guys, but what else could I expect from die-hard Metal Heads?! \m/

Gorge Romero Is the King of the Zombies His effects for Night of the Living Dead and Dawn Of the Dead Were genius, now that I think of it Tom Savini That did the effects for Night of the Living Dead & Dawn Of the Dead did the same effects for Friday the 13th
